Artist’s Applications

At the Shediac Art Gallery we believe that emerging artists have some pretty amazing art, even if they don’t have enough of it to put on a full exhibition on their own. For this reason, we change our “theme” each month, and in doing so, give artists a chance to submit some of their art for exhibition, if it fits into that theme.

Each month we will have an “Open Call” to local artists to submit their art for consideration in one of our themed exhibits the following month. Art submissions will be limited to “fine art”. Unfortunately we will not be accepting any craft items for sale or display in the gallery.

Art will be displayed and sold on consignment at the Shediac Art Gallery. Artists will sign a consignment agreement for a 30 day period of time which will detail everything quite clearly. Below are some of the highlights you will need to know.

A small hanging fee will be charged to the artist based on the size of the art (this calculation has recently changed to be more fair to the exhibition of larger pieces - Effective April 2026, it is now calculated as follows: (length + width x $0.20). The Gallery also charges a small percentage (30%) of the sale of the art.

Any eligible artists must be living in the Maritimes to qualify for exhibition.

To apply, please email the following information to shediacartgallery@gmail.com

  • A photo of each piece of work, title of work, media used and measurements,

  • We will review your work to see if it is a good fit for the Shediac Art Gallery. If the answer is yes, we will schedule an appointment to see your work in person.

Artists Please make note here: (and this is important)

  • Your artwork must be well finished and ready to hang on the gallery walls. All paintings must be wired for hanging with D-rings and plastic coated wire. Do not use string or plastic line. The Gallery uses a hanging system, which has clips that link to the two D-rings on the back of the painting (we don’t actually hang from the wire - that is for the customer who hangs it in their home). Please note that the clip is approx. as thick as the end of a small paint brush - so small triangular shaped rings are often very difficult to hang from. Standard “D” rings help the gallery display your art in its best location and position on the wall. Eye hooks instead of D-rings make hanging it impossible. If you bring me art with no D-rings (no matter how beautiful your art is), I will have to send you away to install the D-rings and wire and then bring it back before I can accept it and display it. (Sorry, but that is the way we need it).

  • All artwork must be labelled on the back to include your name and title of the piece.

    Thank you for your interest
